Aaron Paul moved to France in the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires

The Breaking Bad actor and his wife Lauren Parsekian - who have Story, seven, and three-year-old Ryden together - realised they were "done" with California when the city was ravaged in January and they have embarked on a new chapter in their lives in Paris instead.

Aaron told the Daily Mail online: "When the fires happened in LA, we knew that we were done with LA.

"So we sold our house in LA and moved to Paris."

And the 46-year-old actor couldn't be happier with the decision, even though he admitted his French needs some work.

He said: "Paris is awesome. We always wanted to be around a completely different culture.

"We went out there for the kiddos."

However, it is unclear if the move is long-term as Aaron noted he and Lauren, who he married in 2013, had "always dreamt of doing a year abroad."

The Westworld star recently spoke of how he stopped using his phone in front of his children.

Speaking at the Wall Street Journal Tech Live Conference, he said: "I try not to use the phone in front of my kids. My daughter comes running in and she's asking me a question, something, and I'm just trying to finish this quick email.

"Then she stopped asking, and she kind of went and started playing. She's seven."

Aaron recalled how he apologised for being unresponsive and made a "pact" with his daughter to refrain from using the technology in front of her.

He said: "I want to promise that daddy's not going to be on his phone when he's with you anymore. She did a one-word response, she went, 'Really?' You know, just, 'Really?' And it broke my heart. It really did break my heart.

"I go, 'I promise you I won't', and she just jumped up and threw her arms around me like she won the biggest prize.'"

Aaron feels that he owes it to his children not to have his life "controlled" by technology.

He said: "We owe it to our kids to at least give it a shot. I was having dinner earlier, and it felt like such doom and gloom. They were like, 'No, you're going to get left behind! This is the end all be all!' It's like, 'No, it's not. It's not.'"
