The Finance Minister says she found out the size of former Reserve Bank Governor Adrian Orr's restraint of trade payment - at the same time as everyone else

    7 October 2025
The central bank's annual report has revealed he's getting a 416-thousand dollar payout this month.

Orr resigned in March, following a funding disagreement, with tensions between Treasury, the bank, and the Finance Minister.

Nicola Willis says it was negotiated in accordance with his contract.

She says her reaction to hearing the figure was probably similar to most people - it's a big number.

Orr set up a new management consultancy business, less than three hours after his restraint of trade ended yesterday.
