Today's MIQ changes will come just in time for the country's southern ski industry

Today's MIQ changes will come just in time for the country's southern ski industry

Queenstown, Wanaka, and the wider Southern Lakes region are the most popular winter destinations for returning New Zealanders.

The data has been revealed by Bachcare, New Zealand's largest holiday home management firm.

It shows since the borders reopened, regional accommodation bookings from Australia surged by 330 per cent nationwide.

Bachcare head of revenue Nick Peirce says it's early days, but they're anticipating Queenstown will be busier than pre-Covid.

He says the ski season in general is on track for a bumper season, if nothing changes.
