Heavy rain has caused sewer system overflows in Marlborough

Heavy rain has caused sewer system overflows in Marlborough

Marlborough District Council says about 25 millimetres of rain was recorded between 5.30pm and midnight last night.

Council Operations and Maintenance Engineer, Stephen Rooney, says there is surface flooding around Blenheim and the sewer system is full and overflowing at a number of locations.

It anticipates it will take around six hours for sewer levels to start to drop - dependent on river flows reducing.
