Thirteen councils around the country are getting a share of 30 million dollars funding from Waka Kotahi to improve town and city routes -- and reduce emissions.
Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Palmerston North and Hutt City are just some of the councils getting the improvements.
The funding's part of the Streets for People Programme, which was first introduced in 2020 as a trial.
Waka Kotahi Chief Executive Nicole Rosie says the new programme will build on earlier trials to make public spaces more vibrant and safer for people walking, biking, and riding scooters.
