Police are still combing through information they've received in the hunt for the killer of Ashburton schoolgirl Kirsty Bentley

The 1998 murder of the 15-year-old remains one of New Zealand's most high-profile cold cases.

About 80 tips - regarding people, vehicles, and events - have been sent in since a 100-thousand dollar reward was posted in late July.

Detective Inspector Greg Murton says some were random sightings and many require a lot of digging to contact all relevant parties.

    Nothing obvious has emerged yet.
