    Police are appealing for the public's help, to identify a man who assaulted a woman in Taumarunui last week


    It happened on The Esplanade in Matapuna, around 5.30pm on Tuesday, January 3 - a week ago.

    Detective Kieryn Walton says it was a traumatic ordeal for the victim, who's now receiving support from family and friends.

    The alleged offender is described as being of average build, roughly 6-foot tall or 1.83 metres, clean shaven, with a tattoo near his jaw.

    Anyone who was in the area at the time, is asked to contact police.
