    The skipper of a ferry involved in a collision with a powerboat in the Bay of Islands remains in a stable condition in Middlemore Hospital


    Seventy-seven year old Bill Elliott had spinal surgery on Friday -- the day after the crash.

    His vessel was salvaged from the sea bed on Saturday and both boats are now at a Northland boatyard.

    Police, Maritime NZ and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission investigations are continuing.
