A happy ending for Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau's dog -- which was nearly hounded out of the city

A happy ending for Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau's dog -- which was nearly hounded out of the city

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was facing a move to Levin with Whanau's sister -- after his visits to Council offices were to found to be in breach of its tenancy agreement.

But the new plan is for friends and family to watch Teddy on Mondays and Fridays -- and a doggy daycare to take him overnight for three days.

Whanau says the offers of support have been overwhelming and heartwarming.

She says all have told her Teddy must stay with her -- as the pair love each other too much.

The Council had not received any complaints from its landlord when Teddy's visits first made headlines.
