The death of a Christchurch woman under investigation for allegedly attempting to murder her ex-partner has been ruled as self-inflicted

The death of a Christchurch woman under investigation for allegedly attempting to murder her ex-partner has been ruled as self-inflicted

Epidemiologist Dr Shelagh Isabella Dawson was found dead in May of 2018.

At the time, the 60-year-old was under investigation by police after her ex-partner alleged she had tried to murder him.

Dawson's benefit entitlements were also being investigated by the Ministry of Social Development.

Coroner Alexandra Cunninghame has concluded Dawson died by suicide for several reasons, including that she knew she was under investigation.
