Two pooches are barking in celebration after winning top prizes in this year's top dog competition

Two pooches are barking in celebration after winning top prizes in this year's top dog competition

Invercargill's Wink has been named as Top Dog with a Job for his pest detection skills, and Terry the Terrier from Taupo's won Top Office Dog for his role as Assistant Quarry Manager.

Wink, who only has one eye, works as a conservation dog, detecting pests and sniffing out Spartina grass, a weed that can destroy the habitat for native wildlife.

Terry the Terrier from Taupo works at Atiamuri Sand and Pumice, and he takes his job very seriously.

He'll chase away any pests that have come onto his turf overnight, and does his pre-start checks before jumping into a loader, digger or truck.
