    A tragic night on North Island roads - with three separate fatal crashes


    A motorcyclist died following a crash in Rotorua, just before seven last night.

    Police say two riders were understood to have been riding on Hamurana Road in Okere Falls just before 7pm -- when one fell into the water.

    The second crash was also in the Bay of Plenty, and happened just before nine -- two vehicles collided on State Highway Five.

    One person died and two others were hospitalised.

    Another motorist died when a vehicle went into a creek in Whangamata, in the Waikato, at around 11:40 pm last night.
