The father of a Te Kuiti baby who died of injuries believed not to be accidental - is saying his son seemed to choke on vomit

A homicide investigation's been launched after the 10-month-old couldn't be revived on Saturday.

His father has told Stuff he was home alone with the child, who was unwell.

    Oranga Tamariki is assisting Police.

Waitomo District Councillor Eady Manawaiti is reminding a family will be grieving.

He says to allow the baby to go through the proper process, including burial - and let the officials investigate the cause.
