Rachel McAdams wants Wuthering Heights star Margot Robbie to give her tips on how to act in the rain

The 47-year-old actress famously starred as Allie Hamilton in 2004 movie The Notebook - which was based on Nicholas Spark's romantic novel of the same name - and shared a rain-drenched smooch with her co-star Ryan Gosling, who played Allie's husband Noah Calhoun.

Rachel hasn't mastered her art form when the rain is coming down, but after seeing some teaser scenes from Emerald Fennell's adaptation of by Emily Bronte's 1847 novel starring Margot and Jacob Elordi as Cathy and Heathcliff, she thinks Australian actress could be the queen of drama in the rain.

Speaking to Scott Mills on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show about Wuthering Heights, she said: "I can see there is a lot of rain in this movie and I have acted in a fair amount of rain but I never really figured it out yet so if she has any tips on rain acting."

Rachel and Ryan's famous scene, which won The Best Kiss Award at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, was filmed in freezing water and shot using artificial rain machines on a lake because natural rain was unavailable.

She added: "You have to keep your eyes open but they're driving giant hoses of rain into your eyeballs. It's usually cold, they were pumping it from the bottom of the lake in the winter. They do not warm up the hoses they spray you down.

"When you're that cold I find the acting is not as good, cold does not promote great smouldering love feelings. So if she has any tips on how to act better."

Meanwhile, the Mean Girls star has crossed over to the dark side with her latest role, starring in Sam Raimi survival horror thriller Send Help alongside Dylan O'Brien.

The global box office debut of Send Help has become the third highest-grossing American film of 2026 raking in over $28.1 million worldwide in the opening weekend.

Despite its box office success Rachel McAdams admits she hasn't seen the movie herself because it "scares" her.

She said: "I've not done much horror because I can't even get through the script. I wont be able to sleep for a few weeks, I'll have to sleep with the light on.

"I haven't watched the film it scares me. I know when the jump scare is coming and I still jump and still scream."
