An Upper Hutt man's been caught in possession of over 45 thousand images and videos of child sexual exploitation and abuse

An Upper Hutt man's been caught in possession of over 45 thousand images and videos of child sexual exploitation and abuse

79-year-old Ronald Leonard Ford's been sentenced to 12 months home detention in the Hutt Valley District Court.

The Department of Internal Affairs caught Ford after he uploaded the abuse material to a visual search engine, in an attempt to find more of it.

He'd pleaded guilty after a house search in August last year - where nine USB drives and three computer hard drives were seized.

Ford will be registered as a child sex offender and all the electronic devices used during the offending will be destroyed.
