A bout of dry weather in Auckland - has Watercare preparing for a potential drought

A bout of dry weather in Auckland - has Watercare preparing for a potential drought

Dam storage is at 66.5 percent today - notably lower than the average 78.4 typical for this time of year.

The Hunua dam catchments supplying up to two-thirds of Auckland's water, have had 27 percent less rain than normal.

The Waitakere catchments got less than half.

Watercare says mandatory water restrictions aren't likely - but Aucklanders should be mindful of their use.

Mayor Wayne Brown says he's satisfied WaterCare has it under control.
