Police are seeking urgent public assistance in a homicide investigation after a fatal assault at an Auckland bus stop

Police are seeking urgent public assistance in a homicide investigation after a fatal assault at an Auckland bus stop

A 33 year-old man died in hospital after being assaulted on St Johns Road in Meadowbank about 10pm Saturday.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin says they believe two offenders were involved but they still haven't been identified.

He's asking for information from anyone in the area at the time - especially if any motorists have dashcam footage.

A post-mortem of the victim is scheduled for today.

Baldwin says the motive for the attack is unclear and they are unsure if the victim was waiting for a bus or taking shelter from the storm.
