Hopes of more grocery competition

US big-box retailer Costco has told Newstalk ZB, it's "working on" ways to expand to other centres.

It introduced home delivery in Auckland last week.

The Government says it would welcome moves to give Kiwis more options and lower prices.

Commentator Ernie Newman says it should be easier for other players to take on Woolworths and Foodstuffs.

He says the grocery market is highly profitable but broken, and we need new operators to bring back competition.
