Auckland Emergency Management's opening four Civil Defence Centres for residents living on vessels

Auckland Emergency Management's opening four Civil Defence Centres for residents living on vessels

Unpredictable swells are expected to hit our coastlines overnight, following an 8.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Russia earlier today.

Emergency officials have asked those on boats, live-aboards and at marinas to move onto shore until further notice.

Auckland Civil Defence and Emergency Management Group Controller, Mace Ward says the centres provide back-up shelter for those who can't stay elsewhere this evening.
