The woman charged with neglect over a toddler being hidden in a suitcase on a bus - has interim name suppression

The two-year-old girl was found when the bus stopped in Northland's Kaiwaka yesterday - very hot but seeming unharmed.

Oranga Tamariki is working with whanau to ensure her care.

A 27-year-old woman's appeared in North Shore District Court - and is remanded in custody to reappear tomorrow.

Herald Reporter Katie Harris was there.

She says the woman spent most of the hearing looking away from the public and media, and appeared emotional - wiping her eyes multiple times.
