    A man will remain in custody after a standoff with Nelson police and allegedly threatening to blow up buildings


    Open Justice reports the 36-year-old, who has interim name suppression, appeared in the Nelson District Court this afternoon.

    Police received a report of a person making threats at a private address on Hardy Street East around 3:30 this afternoon.

    The man is facing a number of charges including threatening to kill members of the public and police and threatening grievous bodily harm.

    He is remanded in custody until next month.
