The state of emergency has been lifted in Christchurch City, but remains in place for Banks Peninsula

The state of emergency has been lifted in Christchurch City, but remains in place for Banks Peninsula

They've been in place since Thursday afternoon, following record rainfall.

Christchurch Mayor, Phil Mauger says while things in Christchurch have settled down, there are still concerns around Banks Peninsula.

He says there are still issues with land movement, road closures and an ongoing issue with a sewer pipe which needs to be monitored

Banks Peninsula's state of emergency will be reassessed later in the week.
