Papatoetoe is the latest Auckland suburb to be hit with fruit and veggie restrictions, as another invasive fruitfly is detected

Papatoetoe is the latest Auckland suburb to be hit with fruit and veggie restrictions, as another invasive fruitfly is detected

Biosecurity New Zealand's confirmed the single male Oriental fruitfly was discovered in a South Auckland surveillance trap yesterday.

The finding's unrelated to the recent Queensland fruitfly operation, which wrapped up in Mt Roskill last Friday after six weeks.

Biosecurity New Zealand Commissioner North Mike Inglis says they'll impose legal restrictions to the movement of produce out of Papatoetoe, as a precaution.
