The competition, starting next Friday, will bin two controversial clauses in rugby's offside laws in order to promote more running rugby.
Rugby's offside laws currently states that players in front of the kicker can be put onside as soon as the receiver has either passed the ball or run five metres with it.
The rules have been exploited by the likes of French halfback Antoine Dupont to give his forwards time to regroup, but games have descended into kicking duels.
The rule variation for Super Rugby will see defenders remain offside until they've been put onside by either the kicker or a teammate who has come from behind the kicker.
