World tennis number one Iga Swiatek has criticised what she considers a crammed women's calendar after advancing to the second round of the US Open in straight sets

The Pole has claimed a tour-best five titles this year but says today's match felt like an unnecessary grind.

Swiatek says the international schedule needs change.



Speaking of grinds... Dan Evans has beaten Karen Khachanov in five sets on court six in the American major's longest recorded match - five hours and 35 minutes.

The first three sets went to tie-breaks.

The match extended nine minutes more than the 1992 semi-final between Stefan Edberg and Michael Chang.

Third seed Carlos Alcaraz is currently on court - he leads Li Tu 4-1 in the opening set.
