A bungled West Auckland burglary's landed a man in court today - after his getaway car got stuck in the mud

Police were called to a suspected burglary on a Henderson Valley farm yesterday afternoon.

They say the alleged thief's stolen ute got bogged down, and they had to hoof it.

After failing to nick a van and a quad bike from a neighbouring farm, he ran off with various tools.

Police say he was later taken into custody - soaked to the skin.

A 40-year-old man's been charged with burglary and possessing cannabis.
