Don Grant was killed, when the 71-year-old fell and was buried under coal being loaded on a ship on Anzac Day.
The company pleaded guilty to a representative Health and Safety at Work Act charge - which was considered in Judge Keller's sentence.
Grant's family spoke in victim impact statements of the huge hole his death left, describing their husband and father as a magnificent man.
They said people should go to work to live, not to die.
