Dunedin Hospital says 90 percent of its cancer patients are having their treatment on time - despite service constraints

Dunedin Hospital says 90 percent of its cancer patients are having their treatment on time - despite service constraints

Today was set for the hospital to demonstrate improved services, following a critical Health and Disability Commissioner report.

The deadline was put in place after the hospital was given notice over its right to continue training junior cancer doctors.

Te Whatu Ora Hospital and Specialist Services district director Dan Pallister-Coward says they're confident the work they're doing to recruit and retain staff, will ensure they keep their accreditation.

He says the team includes six radiation oncologists - with two locums to start for three-month terms.
