Eight fire trucks and seven appliances have been dispatched to a large grass fire in Hawke's Bay

Eight fire trucks and seven appliances have been dispatched to a large grass fire in Hawke's Bay

Fire and Emergency New Zealand says it received a call at about 4:15 to the blaze on Tuki Tuki Road in Haumoana.

A spokesperson says it was 300 by 400 metres in size on arrival but has since been contained.

The say fewer crews remain on the scene as they dampen hotspots.

Members of the public are urged to stay away.
