Otago and Auckland researchers have found a significant disparity between Maori and non-Maori taking the prescribed medicine.
They looked at data from more than 14-thousand heart-failure patients between 2012 and 2019.
Auckland University's Dr Joanna Hikaka says it's well known there's inequity but steps can be taken - including increasing awareness on the availability of medicine.
She says medicines play a crucial role improving quality of life for patients with heart failure.
