Tokoroa Police are appealing for witnesses to a gang-related violent robbery where the victim had a piece of their clothing stolen and was left with moderate injuries

Detective Sergeant Neale Saunders says three people carried out the assault around 1pm on Friday.

He says the group then fled in a white Ford Courier ute and left the scene, nearly colliding with a Toyota van on the corner of Leith Place and Swanson Street.

Police believe they know who the attackers are.
