Extra police have been brought in to Gisborne for the tangi of a patched gang member today

Extra police have been brought in to Gisborne for the tangi of a patched gang member today

The Police Eagle helicopter will be above the town, with a large number of gang members and associates expected.

Tairawhiti Area Commander Danny Kirk says they've spoken with local gang leaders to outline expectations - including the wearing of insignia in public.

He says they will not tolerate behaviour that aims to threaten or intimidate.

A Gang Conflict Warrant was issued for the Eastern District last month - giving police special search powers - after tensions between the Mongrel Mob and Black Power.
