Kiwi athletes Tom Walsh and Hamish Kerr have posted respectable results in their disciplines at the latest Diamond League track and field event in Florence

Walsh finished second in the shot put with a throw of 21.69 metres, just four centimetres off Italian winner Leonardo Fabbri.

Kerr just missed out on the podium in the high jump, finishing fourth... his jump of 2.24 metres was eight centimetres off eventual winner JuVaughn Harrison from the United States.

Kenya Faith Kipyegon , stole the show though, breaking the women's 1500 metre record with a time of three minutes 49.11 seconds.
