Kiwi middle distance runner Sam Tanner isn't fazed by an unusual schedule at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest

The 1500 metre event will see heats just after 5am tomorrow, New Zealand time, the semifinal is on Monday morning, then there's a three-day break until the final on Thursday morning.

Tanner says the gap between the semifinal and final won't put him off.

Also in action for the New Zealand team at the world champs tonight are men's shot putters Tom Walsh and Jacko Gill, Geordie Beamish in the 3000 metres men's steeplechase heats and Tiaan Whelpton in the men's 100 metres qualifiers.
