Wellington's mayor says he'd be comfortable swimming on Wellington's southern coast - on current information available

Wellington's mayor says he'd be comfortable swimming on Wellington's southern coast - on current information available

It had been thought the coastline could be off-limits for months, after Moa Point's catastrophic failure meant millions of litres of untreated sewage were pumped out to sea.

But Andrew Little says recent sampling shows low, negligible, or zero contamination.

He says he wants to reopen beaches as soon as this weekend, and let people make their own choices with sampling data posted publicly
