Close to two tonnes of illegal drugs on their way to New Zealand, were stopped by overseas jurisdictions, in the first five months of this year

New Zealand Customs has reported more than 1.2 tonnes of methamphetamine, 210 kilograms of cocaine, and 92 kilograms of MDMA were seized offshore.

This has prevented an estimated 1.7 billion dollars of potential harm and cost.

Additionally, a further 2.3 tonnes of drugs were seized by frontline officers at our border.
