    A man who ran an illegal business killing and selling pigs and chickens - has been fine eight-thousand dollars


    "Peni Nai-valu-vou" was sentenced in the Papakura District Court today - on three charges - following prosecution by New Zealand Food Safety investigators.

    The 64-year is fined four-thousand dollar for illegal slaughter of animals - two-thousand for selling the meat - and two-thousand for not stopping the operations when ordered.

    Food Safety says people avoiding registrations and rules -- take unacceptable risks with consumer safety.
