Costs from grocery suppliers to supermarkets is continuing to moderate -- but at a slower pace

The latest Infometrics-Foodstuffs New Zealand Grocery Supplier Cost Index shows an average 2.9 percent annual rise in what suppliers charged the supermarket in May 2024.

It's eased from an annual peak of 10.6 percent in December 2022.

Infometrics Principal Economist Brad Olsen says a large number of items are still increasing in cost.
