Clients and subscribers of former financial adviser David McEwen are being urged to check their bank statements for unauthorised payments

The Financial Markets Authority's received complaints from his clients who suspect payments have been made without their authority.

Some customers say they subscribed to the Auckland-based McEwen's publications up to 10 years ago.

The FMA previously issued a Stop Order after finding some communications from him and associates were false or misleading, likely to confuse, or had other errors.

In March, criminal charges were filed against McEwen for breaching this order.
