The cost of living for the average household isn't rising as fast as overall consumer prices

The cost of living for the average household isn't rising as fast as overall consumer prices

Latest Stats NZ data shows household inflation reached 2.4 percent in September, compared to an overall rate of three.

Prices rose four-percent in a year for the lowest-spending households -- because of ongoing lifts to rent.

Prices went up almost as fast for households on Super.

The highest-spending households, by contrast, only experienced about 0.8 percent rising prices -- thanks to a sharp drop in mortgage payments.
