    Shannon Cox has laid down an early marker in the women's single sculls on the opening morning of the rowing national championships at Lake Ruataniwha near Twizel


    The Paris Olympian in the light-weight double sculls posted the quickest time in the heats to directly advance through to Saturday's final.

    Cox won the single sculls national title in 2022.

    Robbie Manson's taken out the men's single sculls preliminary race over Finn Hamill and Ben Manson.
