Scam victims are being urged to be vigilant for potential future recovery scams

Scam victims are being urged to be vigilant for potential future recovery scams

It involves the scammer contacting a known victim, and poses as someone trying to recover the lost funds.

Consumer NZ says just like any scam, victims need to be especially suspicious of spontaneous contact in the days, weeks and months ahead.

Spokesperson Ruairi O'Shea says another key piece of advice is to avoid acting without thinking if receiving a suspicious call.

He says people getting any spontaneous calls should tell the caller they'll do their own research into it, and ring back if needed.
