The Government hopes changes to the screen production rebate will lure more Hollywood productions to Kiwi shores

The Government hopes changes to the screen production rebate will lure more Hollywood productions to Kiwi shores

It's lowering the minimum qualifying spend for the rebate, and extending it to post-production and effects.

Economic Growth Minister Nicola Willis says the changes ensure New Zealand remains a serious contender in a competitive industry.

Newstalk ZB revealed earlier this week that Treasury was concerned the number of international productions submitting new registrations was particularly poor.

That had prompted MBIE and Treasury to work on ways to make the scheme better.
