The Health Minister is considering a new target - this time aimed at GPs

The Health Minister is considering a new target - this time aimed at GPs

The Government brought back five health targets last year, looking at cancer treatment access, immunisation rates, and elective treatment, specialist appointment and emergency department wait times.

Simeon Brown told Q&A, he's sought advice on his wish to see kiwis waiting less than a week to see their GP.

Brown says there are far too many New Zealanders waiting longer than seven days for an appointment, particularly in rural communities.

It follows a number of announcements this week from Brown, aimed at addressing primary care.
