The Government's being urged to join an international effort to tackle prostate cancer

The Government's being urged to join an international effort to tackle prostate cancer

New Zealand's been invited to the Praise-U consortium, an European initiative aiming to boost prostate screening so treatment is accessed sooner.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation's calling on the Government to accept, as the disease kills more than 700 Kiwi men a year.

President Danny Bedingfield believes current prevention efforts here don't match other cancers.

He says with the funding going into breast and cervical screening, the healthcare system's letting our men down.
