Newcastle NRL playmaker Fletcher Sharpe has been diagnosed with a lacerated kidney after being admitted to hospital in Perth

Newcastle NRL playmaker Fletcher Sharpe has been diagnosed with a lacerated kidney after being admitted to hospital in Perth

Sharpe reported abdominal soreness after suffering a concussion in the Knights' 26-20 win over the Dolphins in Perth.

It is understood he suffered the damage in the same tackle as the concussion, when his body hit the ground hard when brought down from behind.

Sharpe is set to remain in Western Australia for several days as he deals with the issue.
