Nurses in the upper North Island begin several local industrial action today

Nurses in the upper North Island begin several local industrial action today

The Nurses Organisation says their concerns about staff shortages continue to go unaddressed - following a 24-hour nationwide strike last month.

North Shore District Nursing Service nurses will carry out a week long uniform strike - instead wearing t-shirts saying 'not enough nurses'.

Auckland Hospital's cardio-thoracic and vascular intensive care, and Whangarei Hospital's Acute Surgical Services nurses will undertake a redeployment strike.

They're usually sent to short-staffed areas when required - but instead they'll remain in their wards, only going for life preserving reasons.
