A study has revealed a new, much less painful way to prevent rheumatic heart disease

A study has revealed a new, much less painful way to prevent rheumatic heart disease

Otago University says the treatment's an improvement on the almost 70-year-old method that many patients avoid.

Lead author Julie Bennett says the disease has disappeared in most high-income countries.

But she says it's still an alarming and inequitable cause of preventable suffering and death among Maori and Pasifika here.
