Underinvestment's forced more general practices to close - and telehealth's been left to patch up the gaps.
A British Medical Journal study reports adults are 23-percent more likely to be prescribed antibiotics in remote consultations than face-to-face.
But GP Owners Association chair Dr Angus Chambers says handing out antibiotics without examination can risk patient safety.
He says there's a risk people will be given them inappropriately - and fairly serious things will be missed.
