The 24/7 nationwide telehealth service is now officially up and running

The 24/7 nationwide telehealth service is now officially up and running

Health Minister Simeon Brown says it allows virtual consultations with New Zealand-registered doctors and nurses anytime, anywhere.

He says the service uses secure digital technology, and provides assessment, diagnoses, prescriptions and referrals.

Four and a half thousand people have already used it following its pilot launch in May.

Brown says it will help ease pressure on emergency departments, and providers will be required to send notes to a patients GP.
